Faceting
Octoglass facets glass and prepares edges on our own site. We do straight and curved bevels, as well as edge grinding and polishing — including without a step when a ledge is not needed. Processing runs on a 5-axis CNC or a manual machine: we choose the route for geometry, lot size, and repeatability. Maximum processing size is 2500 × 1500 mm. Standard thicknesses are 2–8 mm; under 2 mm and above 8 mm are treated as special projects. The service works as a standalone stage or alongside cutting, bending, lamination, or a finish coating.

Faceting and edge preparation
Octoglass facets glass on our own site — as a standalone service and as a stage before bending, lamination, painting, or assembly. The stage sets an agreed edge profile: remove sharp break marks, form a bevel where appearance or fit require it, or prepare the edge without a step when grinding or polishing alone is enough.
Straight and curved bevels are available. Straight outlines suit rectangular and simple polygonal parts; curved bevels fit when the edge follows an arc or complex outline and the profile must repeat from part to part — not be “finished by eye” after nesting.
Edge mode is chosen for the job. Grinding covers baseline prep; polishing is for a smoother, visually and tactilely cleaner edge. A no-step option is also available: the edge is processed without forming a decorative bevel ledge. We lock what is needed at assessment so we do not run “polish everywhere” without a reason.
Faceting often links to neighbouring Octoglass services: cutting and drilling before or alongside edge work, bending after the outline is prepared, lamination, and finish coatings. The earlier profile, thickness, and next stage are agreed, the shorter the path from the first blank to stable lot repeat.
CNC and manual routes
Processing runs on two routes. A 5-axis CNC machine fits when series repeatability and accurate profile-to-outline registration to an agreed program matter: straight or curved bevels, grinding or polishing, run as a reproducible cycle — not a one-off hand finish.
The manual machine is used where nothing else can close the job, or where it is not worth forcing CNC: a non-standard fit, limited edge access, a one-off prototype, or geometry better finished under operator control. Both routes share the same production limits on format and thickness — the execution method changes, not the “physics of the glass”.
CNC versus manual is locked with the edge mode at assessment. For OEM and repeat lots, a CNC program usually wins; for one-offs or awkward fits, the manual route does. If data is thin, we help define a minimal set: outline, thickness, whether a stepped bevel is needed, grinding or polishing, and what follows processing.

Format and thicknesses
Maximum processing size is 2500 × 1500 mm. Within that envelope we cover compact technical parts and larger blanks for automotive or special glazing — provided thickness, edge profile, and route are agreed up front.
The standard working thickness range is 2–8 mm. If you need to facet under 2 mm or above 8 mm, we treat the job as a special project: we assess fit, tooling/program, and risk before launch, not after a failed first attempt.
On the site we publish confirmed format, thicknesses, and process types. Specific bevel-width tolerances, edge roughness, and timing are agreed per part and lot — without invented “catalogue” numbers that are not in the brief.
An outline, thickness, a note on straight versus curved bevel, grinding versus polishing, with or without a step, and the next route stage are enough to start assessment. Exact pricing and timing follow once inputs are agreed; related services such as cutting, bending, and lamination can sit in the same enquiry.
