On 25 October 2026, Russian Public Television (OTR) aired episode 23 of Constructors of the Future. Afterword. The first part of the programme focuses on smart glass and the challenges of introducing new technologies in the transport sector.
OTR revisited the interactive transparent display project for transport. In such a system, electrochromic glass can change its tint level under an electric current and act as a controllable optical filter, helping keep the image readable under bright outdoor light.
In a conversation with the host, Octoglass CTO Dmitry Knyazhev said that the Russian transport project is still progressing through approval stages. The company offers transport operators pilot projects and open trials. At the same time, large-format samples of electrochromic glazing have already been sent to railway partners in India for testing; partners in China are also showing interest in the technology.
The work is not limited to rail transport. Octoglass electrochromic solutions are advancing for automotive and architectural glazing, optical filters, and specialised glass assemblies. The broadcast also noted that the company is running pilot projects for civil facilities and expanding its own production base in the Vladimir Region.
What matters most to us is that Afterword returns to these developments over time and talks not only about the idea itself, but about the real path of the technology — testing, approvals, manufacturing, and entry into new markets.
