Octoglass is engaged not only in developing and selling “smart glass” or electronically tinted glass, but also in ensuring that all of the company’s products serve customers for as long as possible. Over the company’s lifetime, hundreds and thousands of studies have been conducted in organic polymer electrochromism, hybrid electrical electrochromism, and fully solid-state electrochromism — including work on device endurance and durability. A full color change of a polymer electrochromic device with an area of up to 0.8 square meters (a standard automotive side window) takes on the order of 2–3 minutes. There are ways to accelerate this process, but in most cases acceleration has a strongly negative effect on device durability. Octoglass approaches methods for speeding up coloring and clearing with great caution, because the company prioritizes preserving the consumer properties of its products. We expect our products to serve customers well for many years.
