Octoglass in cooperation with its technology partner Metro Media LLC successfully completed a project to create a transparent OLED display with variable transparency, designed to be installed as a window, in passenger rail transportation.
The innovativeness of the solution is the possibility of using a display on organic LEDs and an electrochromic filter that allows to automatically control the contrast of the display and block bright lighting from outside. This approach allowed to simultaneously solve several important tasks:
- ensuring acoustic and thermal comfort for passengers in the cabin;
- increasing the level of safety in case of emergency situations.
Colleagues from Metro Media, after successful pilot testing of the Interactive Transparent Display project in the Moscow Metro, approached us with the problem of sunlight illumination of their media window when passing through open areas of the subway and expressed interest in the possibility of using our product – Electrochromic Filter, in the final solution.
Electrochromic glazing developed by “Octoglass” specialists provides stable contrast even in bright daylight, while blocking the passage of ultraviolet light to the OLED display.
All solutions applied in the project are protected by patents.
